198-8

Shelbi Vaughan, Mansfield Legacy (TX)

June 15, 2012

Shelbi Vaughan was in a league of her own as a thrower in high school.

At the end of her senior year at Mansfield Legacy (TX), Vaughan launched a throw of 198-8 at the 2012 USATF Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships that has stood as the high school record for a decade.

Vaughan placed fourth in the discus at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials just after graduating high school.

The Texas A&M alum's high school mark has held strong for over 10 years now, but the 2022 outdoor season did see one athlete climb up the all-time rankings.

Emma Sralla of Lewisville Marcus (TX) threw a best of 185-0 at the UIL Class 6A District 5/6 Championships to rank sixth on the all-time high school list.

With her senior year still ahead, Sralla, an U20 athlete for Sweden, has put herself in a realistic position to potentially reach the 190-foot mark.
