The national postseason typically brings a certain flare to the relays.
Some high school programs tend to field their top squads. In other cases, all-star teams combine U18 or U20 formations.
Undoubtedly, we begin to see the best performances of the year in these relays, from the sprints all the way to the distance events. And today, we want to look at overall depth in the 1,600m.
For much of 2022, Newbury Park has showcased its elite prowess, both in individual events and relays -- in March, the boys team set a new high school national record in the 4xmile, while later over the outdoor season, the same group of four posted an all-time DMR effort.
The Panthers' girls group shouldn't be slept on, either. The team's top four girls currently are No. 2 in combined average, only behind Flower Mound (TX).
