That's what Vacca did on Friday at the DVGTCA Meet of Champions at Lehigh University, clearing a pole vault bar no freshman has ever done before en route to a new national freshman class record of 13 feet, 2 inches.
That's important. Because as the floor keeps raising at the freshman level, so too will the ceiling of senior athletes in the years to come.
Right now, Vacca owns a U.S. No. 12 mark and an all-time freshman mark.
It's not an all-time Pennsylvania mark just yet. But Vacca stands at No. 7 in state history, with Chloe Timberg's 13-10 clearance owning the all-time charts.
