Oh, what a year can do.

In 2020 Aaliyah McCormick was only able to compete in one meet before the country went into lockdown due to the pandemic. This year she has competed in the 300mH six times and the 100mH seven times and shown big improvements in each meet.

The Scripps Ranch High School's (CA) junior had her biggest day yet this weekend at the CIF San Diego Section Division 2 Meet. McCormick dominated the hurdles running two US top 20 times.

She started her day with a win in the 100m hurdle prelims where she ran a wind-legal 14.39 (+1.4) seconds. In the finals, she ran 13.85 (+1.2) good for the fastest time in the state of California and 13th fastest in the nation.

She was not only dominant in the 100m hurdles but the 300m hurdles as well.

In the 300mH prelims, she ran 43.87 seconds. She would go on to better that time in the finals, running a new California number one and US No. 20 time of 42.77 seconds.

McCormick came into the 2021 outdoor track season with PR's of 15.06 in the 100mH and 45.54 in the 300mH. Now she holds the fastest times in the state of California and some of the top in the nation.
