When she was a child, Olympian Priscilla Frederick always pictured herself as an entertainer or a model.
The Queens, New York native loved the entertainment industry and could picture herself on a stage: On Broadway, in movies and on television. And her mother was dedicated to giving Frederick the opportunities to succeed, which included commuting from New Jersey, where the family resided, to New York so she could attend casting calls and acting classes after her mother got off work.
But it was a comment by a woman in the modeling industry many years ago that essentially made Frederick realize she had to leave it for good, and which ultimately led to years of unbridled success in track and field, with Frederick eventually qualifying for the Olympics for her parent's native country.
