Updated Class of 2022 Top Girls Recruits

rankprv. ranknameschoolanalysis

1

1

Kayla Davis

Hough (NC)We haven't seen anything new from Davis since our last update, but that doesn't make her any less talented. During the indoor track season, she was ranked top 10 nationally in four different events, including a pair of US No. 2 marks in the 300 meters (37.38) and 400 meters 54.64 (400m). With personal bests of 7.95 (60m), 11.68 (100m), 23.08 (200m) and 51.17 (400m) it's  hard to deny that Davis is the country's top track and field talent in the Class of 2022.

2

4

Juliette Whittaker

Mount De Sales (MD)What an outstanding indoor track season for Whittaker. The Maryland native was the top 800m runner in the country (2:03.01) as well as the top 1,000m runner in the country (2:45). Those are marks that would be competitive with some of the top middle distance runners that the NCAA has to offer. Her mile PR of 4:43 and 3200m PR of 10:23 are huge marks which may be overshadowed by how great Whittaker was in the middle distances. It's not every day that you have a runner who could have been in the NCAA All-American conversation as a sophomore -- a high school sophomore.

3

2

Ramiah Elliott

North Central (IN)A new 60m PR of 7.71 at the beginning of March was a nice step in the right direction for Elliott, who has more of a 200m and 400m runner. Her personal bests of 23.27 (200m) and 52.89 (400m) from the spring of 2019 are still the major highlights of her resume, but it's encouraging to see her effectively move down in distance, even if it's a time that isn't the same caliber of her other personal bests.

4

10

Jenna Hutchins

Science Hill (TN)What an incredible mark from Hutchins at the Music City Distance Carnival earlier this summer. She made the most of her opportunity by dropping an outstanding time of 9:49 for 3200 meters, which is the No. 3 all-time and the No. 1 junior mark ever. She also ran a new PR of 16:25 for 5,000 meters on the grass earlier this month. Simply put, Hutchins has elevated her fitness and is clearly becoming the top long distance talent of this class (and maybe the country).

5

6

Roisin Willis

Stevens Point (WI)Willis was on fire this past indoor track season, running new personal bests of 2:03 (800m) and 4:49 (mile). Not only that, but she took advantage of her opportunities during the outdoor track season and ended up running a new personal best of 54.23 seconds in June. Much like Whittaker, that 800m time could put her in the All-American conversation at the NCAA level.

6

3

Aaliyah Butler

Piper (FL)Yet another top-tier sprinter, Butler was on fire this past indoor track season as she recorded the fastest 400m time in the country, regardless of class, with a time of 53.03. That, however, isn't even her PR (which is 52.25 from the spring of 2019). An improved 100m time of 12.13 from this past August is a step in the right direction, but the Florida native is a 200m/400m specialist and we don't see that changing.

7

12

Abby Vanderkooi

Western Michigan Christian (MI)After an indoor track season where she recorded personal bests of 2:18 (800m) and 4:48 (1600m), Vanderkooi later went into the summer and ran a personal best of 10:02 for 3200m -- sixth all-time in the sophomore class. The third place finisher from last year's Foot Locker National Championships is only getting better, making her a big name to watch for college coaches looking to recruit a star distance runner from this class which is top-heavy with sprinters.

8

5

Jayla Jamison

West Columbia Airport (SC)Like some of the other top-ranked athletes in our rankings, Jamison is a great talent in the 200m (23.19) and 400m (54.92). However, what separates her from the other talented sprinters in this class is her ability to effectively drop to the 100m (11.56) as well as post nationally competitive long jump marks (19-11.75). Jamison can do a little bit of everything and she will be a great addition for whichever university is able to recruit her.

9

7

Alyssa Jones

Miami Southridge (FL)Despite some athletes not competing this spring/summer, Jones still emerged as the country's top long jumper and high jumper this past outdoor track season. She cleared 6-0 in the high jump (for the second time in her career) and leaped 20-8.75 in the long jump. Not only that, but she ran a new personal best in the 200m of 23.90. Jones is not only progressing, but she's also posting her top marks on a consistent basis -- a very encouraging sign for college coaches who need their athletes to produce on a weekly basis.

10

14

Leeah Burr

Detroit Renaissance (MI)The Michigan native made the most of her indoor track season, running a US No. 13 mark in the 200 meters (24.16) and US No. 8 mark in the 400 meters (54.84). WIth personal bests of 23.96 (200m) and 54.17 (400m) from the spring of 2019, it's clear that Burr would have thrived on the outdoor track if she had been given the opportunity.

11

15

Autumn Wilson

St. Dominic Salvio Catholic (TX)A strong personal best of 11.66 (wind-aided) in the 100m this past June, and her wind-legal 11.73, was very encouraging as it complemented her nationally-ranked top-five marks in the 60m and 200m from this past winter. Wilson also posted three efforts under 24.5 in the 200m outdoors this spring. Wilson is the real deal and she continues to give us good reasons to think that.

12

9

Caelyn Harris

Upland (CA)No new personal bests for Harris since our last update. Her personal best of 20-8.5 from the spring of 2019 (which ranked at US No. 6 that season) is still intact.

13

8

Moforehan Abinusawa

Germantown Academy (PA)Abinusawa didn't record any new results since our last update, but the short sprint specialist is hard to forget about, especially after running personal bests of 6.82 (55m), 7.32 (60m), 11.59 (100m) and 23.56 (200m). Her consistency in those events is also a quietly great aspect of her resume.

14

11

Kennedi Sanders

Madison Ridgeland Academy (MS)Not much new from Sanders, although she did record a new indoor personal best of 55.76 this past January which was just a few milliseconds off from her outdoor best. She's a great 60m (7.48) and 200m runner (23.88), and that gives her an arsenal of sprint races to choose from.

15

19

Falon Spearman

Charlotte Providence Day (NC)A new 100m PR of 12.50 was nice to see out of Spearman. She also is inching closer toward breaking 60 seconds for the 400mH and ended the season with a US No. 1 sophomore best of 1:01.50. Her 55H time of 8.06 and 60H time of 8.71 from this past winter gave her national rankings of US No. 16 and US No. 21, respectively.

16

13

Jassani Carter

Pembroke Pines Flanagan (FL)Carter competed only a few times during late February and early March. She didn't run a new PR, but she did run some wind-aided sub-24s in the 200 meters. Her personal bests of 11.53 (100m) and 23.31 (200m) understandably keep her as a top-ranked name.

17

32

Sanaa Hebron

Neshaminy (PA)Sanaa Hebron's 2020 indoor track resume is a bit overwhelming, mainly due to how good she was in so many events. The PA native was ranked inside the top-100 nationally in five different events. She was ranked US No. 20 in the 300m, US No. 15 in the 500m, US No. 20 in the 400m, US No. 55 in the 600m. Hebron later went on to run a US No. 6 time of 1:04 in the 400mH this past outdoor track season. She can seemingly do everything at a high level and it's hard to think that she won't be a valuable athlete in terms of scoring when coaches begin recruiting.

18

20

Ella Kurto

Saratoga Springs (NY)Kurto ran a new personal best of 9:34 in the 3,000m (US No. 4) since our last update, earning her a runner-up finish at the New York state meet. You have to be impressed with what we've seen from the Saratoga Springs ace this past winter.

19

16

Kaila Jackson

Detroit Renaissance (MI)Jackson was a bit quiet this past indoor track season and she didn't race during the summer. However, her 2019 indoor track season when she ran 6.92 (55m) and 7.44 (60m) isn't something that we forgot about.

20

17

Kenna Stimmel

Margaretta (OH)The pole vault ace cleared 13-3 in February, just two inches off from her personal best of 13-5. We like to think that if she had been given a season to compete, she would have improved upon her PR from 2019. She did, however, take home an Ohio state title this past winter.

21

28

Taylor Mckinnon

Raleigh Cardinal Gibbons (NC)In total, Mckinnon recorded six new seasonal bests during the 2020 indoor track season, although her highlights included PRs in the 55mH (8.15, US No. 27) and the 60mH  (8.82, US No. 42).

22

18

Kiara Strayhorn

Jefferson City (MO)A 60mH PR of 8.74 from this past winter was a nice mark for Strayhorn who also cleared 5-5.75 at the same meet. She competed in only two events during the summer, but she has a well-rounded resume between the short-distance hurdles events (such as the 60H and 100H) as well as the horizontal jumps.

23

HM

Dajaz Defrand

Omaha Boys & Girls Of Midlands (NE)Defrand has respectable sprint marks, but it's her 60m dash PR of 7.41 which really captures our attention. The Nebraska native was the country's US No. 6 ranked sprinter in that event, making her one of the fastest women in the country in one of the most popular events.

24

26

Natalie Cook

Flower Mound (TX)Cook took advantage of a fast field at the Music City Distance Carnival and walked away with a clutch PR of 10:16 for 3,200m. A result like that suggests that she would have been in the All-American conversation for cross country this fall (and she still could be depending on what happens with Foot Locker).

25

22

Jahzara Hart

Southeast Raleigh (NC)Hart competed a few times during the outdoor track season, but her personal bests of 11.67 (100m) and 23.95 (200m) remain unchanged.

26

23

Kaniya Johnson

Lexington White Knoll (SC)Johnson competed in a handful of races this past summer, but much like Hart, didn't see a change in her personal bests. That said, she was the top South Carolina sprinter in four different events this past winter, showing off her unique dominance over her home state (as well as her versatility).

27

29

Riley Newkirk

Greensboro Western Guilford (NC)Newkirk's new PR of 8.64 in the 60mH  is a perfect complement to her 100mH PR of 14.40 from the spring of 2019. We like to see that she's improving and bettering her marks when given the opportunity.

28

25

Lea Hatcher

Morgantown (WV)It was a great indoor track season for the West Virginia native as Hatcher ran new personal bests of 2:11 (800m), 4:50 (mile) and 10:18 (3,200m). Those are all elite-level distance times, especially on an indoor track. We need to keep an eye on Hatcher moving forward because she is rapidly progressing in her fitness.

29

21

Ashlyn Keeney

North Liberty (IA)It was a very quiet indoor track season for Keeney, the Iowa state runner-up in cross country last year. Her personal bests of 2:09 (800m) and 9:39 (3K) from the 2019 outdoor track season are hard to ignore, but we haven't seen much from her as of late.

30

HM

Olivia Campbell

Pittsfield (IL)Emerging at the country's No. 14 best weight thrower as only a sophomore is impressive. Her throw of 51-8.5 gave her the win at the Mizzou HS Indoor Series Championship.

31

43

Riley Chamberlain

Del Oro (CA)Chamberlain hadn't raced since the fall of 2019, but then came out of nowhere and dropped a PR of 4:44 this past July. It was the only recorded track race that she's had in the past year. That is a top-tier mark which actually made her the top 1,600m runner in the country. The California native only needed one race to show the country that she belongs among the best.

32

34

Ariane Linton

Dutchtown (LA)A PR of 7.57 in the 60m dash from this past indoor track season was encouraging as it perfectly complements her personal bests of 11.78 (100m) and 24.12 (200m).

33

24

Terica Boyd

North Miami (FL)Boyd raced a ton this past summer, but didn't come away with any new personal bests. She did, however, run a wind-aided 14.84 in the 100mH. Her indoor track season, despite consisting of a variety of different events, was also a bit on the quieter side.

34

HM

Anasatcia GonzalesBoerne Champion (TX)Gonzales made a major leap over 2020, producing a US No. 1 time of 4:28.22 in the 1,500m (over an abbreviated season), as well as a US No. 6 mark of 2:09.18 for 800m. That time marked her first time under 2:10 -- though she also secured three performances at 2:10-flat, too. Gonzales also lowered her 400m best to 57.25 and ran a PR of 4:55.59 for 1,600m.

34

27

Addy Wiley

Huntington North (IN)Wiley didn't run in any races on the track between last fall and now. However, her personal bests of 2:10 (800m) and 4:46 (1600m) leave us eager to see what she does on the grass this fall and whenever track competition returns.

35

39

Emma Callahan

Shenango (PA)Her shot put PR of 47-11 from this past indoor season gave Callahan the country's second-best shot put mark. She didn't have a great performance at the PIAA State Championships (finishing sixth overall), but she proved that her incredible 41-11 PR wasn't a fluke after throwing 47-8.75 in June.

36

30

Ija Mumford

Winston-Salem Parkland Magnet (NC)Mumford has been relatively quiet as of late, although she still boasts personal bests of 39-9 (triple jump) and 19-7 (long jump) from the spring of 2019. When given a full season of outdoor competition, she'lll likely make the most of it.

37

31

Micah Trusty

Friends' Central (PA)A new PR of 56.20 in the 400m resulted in a third place finish at the PIAA state championships. At that same meet, Trusty also finished third in the 800 meters. She didn't run a new PR in the 800 meters (her speciality), but a big PR in the 400 meters is a sign that she's trending in the right direction.

38

NR

Jada Foreman

Atlee (VA)It was the long jump of 19-2.75 that really caught our attention. Foreman secured the top long jump mark in her class, regardless of the season. She was also the US No. 15 long jumper this past winter with that mark. Simply put, Foreman's long jump abilities are exceptional for someone as young as her, so we opted to place her in our top 50 rankings.

39

NR

Hali Murphy

St. Dominic Savio Catholic (TX)The Austin, Texas native made the most of her opportunities this past summer, recording new personal bests of 11.82 (100m), 24.19 (200m) and 54.93 (400m). To run that well in a single season in three different events gives you a breakout season which is exactly what happened here. Murphy is the newest sprint talent to emerge out of Texas in a class that is already loaded with strong sprint athletes. She was also ranked at US No. 15 this past winter in the 400m.

40

40

Bryanna Craig

Lubbock (TX)Craig emerged as the US No. 2 pentathlete this past indoor track and also secured a few other strong marks in events like the 55H (US No. 55), the high jump (US No. 40) and the 60H (US No. 88). Craig also had a handful of marks in other events that were ranked inside the top-200 nationally. The New Jersey native -- who currently lives in Texas -- can do everything and has been able to culminate her versatility into becoming an elite mulit-event specialist. She was also the country's US No. 2 hepethlete this past outdoor track season as well with 4929 points. However, her personal best is 5094 points.

41

36

Janet Nkwoparah

Arlington Bowie (TX)Her wind aided 14.12 in the 100mH is a personal best and a resume highlight that is hard to forget about. She ran that as a freshman and if she had run this past outdoor track season (past the March 7th date), she may have been able to replicate that kind of success.

42

37

Leah Ellis

Millville (NJ)It feels like Ellis competed in everything this past indoor track season ... and that may be because she did. She was the US No. 25 pentathlete this past winter, but also owns a personal best of 19-3 in the long jump from the spring of 2019. That's a unique skillset for pretty much anyone.

43

42

Ava Parekh

Chicago Latin (IL)Running 4:49 for 1,600m this past indoor track season gave Parekh the win at the Illinois Meet of Champions in late July. As for her indoor track season, her two-mile PR of 10:29 has put her on the map as a top in the Midwest and given her recent progression, it doesn't look like she'll stop being competitive any time soon. She began her XC season by breaking 17 minutes for 3-miles.

43

46

Agur Dwol

Mullen (CO)No new results during the spring or summer, but a US No. 6 mark in the triple jump (40-3.75) was a huge PR for Dwol who also lept 18-9.25 in the long jump (US No. 40).

44

33

Samarra Monrroy

Long Beach Millikan (CA)Monrroy has only competed twice since last spring, neither instance resulting in a new PR. Her 400m PR of 54.16 is very strong and we like to think that she would have replicated that mark had their been a full outdoor track season.

46

35

Aerin Thompson

Cayuga (TX)Her high jump clearance of 5-10 from the spring of 2019 is still the major highlight of Thompson's high school career as she didn't compete this spring/summer once pandemic concerns began.

48

NR

Riley Stewart

Cherry Creek (CO)The 17th place finisher from last year's Foot Locker National Championships ran a new mile PR of 4:50 this past indoor track season. However, just when you think that that was the peak of her sophomore year, she goes on to run 4:49 for the mile on an outdoor track. Stewart is only getting better and becoming a national-level threat.

49

38

Sarah Ferguson

Lexington Lafayette (KY)Her pole vault clearance of 13-0.25 from the spring of 2019 still stands, although not much has happened since.

50

NR

Haley Tate

Houston (TX)Tate ran once after February and produced wind-legal times of 12.10 for 100m and a career best of 24.35 for 200m. She also ran a wind-aided 11.70 in February. It seems as though Tate could have benefitted greatly with a season, though we're going to project that her talent isn't a fluke.
