Annie Kunz, the 2020 USA Indoor National Champion in the penthalon and a World Outdoor Championships qualifier, shared how being a dual-sport athlete for Texas A&M opened her eyes to the different mindsets that her teammates had when it came to how they viewed themselves. In college, Kunz said she made mini-shifts in how she trained as a soccer player during the fall and a heptathlete during the spring in order to be successful. She graduated from Texas A&M in 2016. As a prep, Kunz competed for Wheat Ridge (CO) High School (Class of 2011) and was a six-time state champion varying from the hurdles to jumps.
