Michigan:

West Bloomfield Invitational (MI)Megan Goethals, Rochester, runs to an impressive early season victory with a time of 17:55.75, though she had to contend with talented frosh Erin Finn, West Bloomfield, who finished 2nd in 18:11.50.  Michael Atchoo, Troy, won the boys race with a time of 16:03.45.  Meet Results

 

New York:

VVS Invitational (NY):  Fayetteville-Manlius flat-out dominates with the girls winning with a perfect 15 points and the boys scoring 16 points, and that without Alex Hatz!  Story and In-Depth Coverage @  Armory

 

Ohio:

US#1 Zach Wills, Mason, tore through his home invitational, the Mason XC Invite, with a time of 15:17.79.  Wills won the Big Schools section by nearly a minute over Andrew Goodwin, Celina.  Samantha Siler, Sycamore, won the Big School girls section with a time of 18:55.56.  Complete Ohio Coverage Here

 

Wisconsin:

Molly Seidel, University Lake, won the Arrowhead Invitational 4k with a very quick 14:18.49.  Waukesha North teammates Jenna Mcmiller and Sammi Donovan also recorded quick times of 14:25.09 and 14:28.69 for 2nd and 3rd.  Meet Results

 

Shawano Invite: Megan Stenz, Kaukauna, won the girls 4000 meter race with a 15:04.16.  Meet Results

 

Stevens Point Invite: Maggie Priebe, Wausau, won the girls 4000 meter race with a time of 14:52.51.  Meet Results

 

Illinois:

Kayla Beattie, Woodstock, and Aaron Beattie, Neuqua Valley, had the fastest times of the day at the Peoria Woodruff Invitational.  Kayla clocked a 17:23 3 mile while Aaron ripped a 14:43.85.  Meet Results

 

North Carolina:

US#6 Wesley Frazier, Ravenscroft, won the Adidas Seahawk Invitational with a monster time of 17:05.09 to win by 53 seconds over Carolyn Baskir, East Chapel Hill, who also dipped under 18 with a time of 17:58.  Frazier's time is the fastest time ever run by a girl in North Carolina.  The guys rolled as well, with 7 under 16, lead by Muhamed Abushouk, Cary, who won with a time of 15:23.05. More Meet Coverage

 

New Jersey:

Cherokee Challenge (NJ): US#8 Chelsea Ley, Kingsway, 11:12, and US#7 Jon Vitez, Haddonfield, 9:33, win big in the senior races.  Vitez missed former teammate Chris Platt's record by about a second.  Tatnall(DE) girls and West-Windsor Plainsboro South boys laid claim to the team titles. US#11 Tyler Udland, Millburn, won the boys varsity race at the Randolph Invitational with a time of 15:59.  Jillian Prentice, Montgomery, won the girls varsity race with a time of 18:37.  Meet Results

US#9 Sara Sargent, Pennsbury, ran uncontested from the gun to a winning time of 18:10 on a slippery and muddy course at the PTXC1 InvitationalPennsbury girls rolled to their second Invitational victory of the year with a 55-87 victory over West Chester HendersonAlex Gallis, Cedar Crest, took the boys varsity race in 15:56.  Conrad Weiser took the boys title with 113 points.  More Meet Coverage

 

Rad Gunzenhauser, Mount Lebanon, cruised to a quick 15:24 to win the Red, White, and Blue ClassicElaina Balouris, Hampton, won a tightly contested girls race in 18:19.  Meet Results

 

PA#1 girls North Penn won a tough one against rival Central Bucks East 49-56 at the Central Bucks East InviteMeet Results

 

PA#1 boys West Chester Henderson rocked the 4xXC Relay with relay teams finishing 1-2 with the winning team under 45 minutes for the 4x2-mile relay.  Meet Results

 

Alex Beardsley, North East, won the Slippery Rock Invitational with a quick solo 16:01.  Meet Results

 

Virginia:

Knights Crossing Invitational: MileSplit US #8 Blacksburg girls come out on top against previous US top 20 ranked Hidden Valley (who raced at full strength for the first time this fall) 50-87. Stevens twins of Blacksburg go 1-2 at 18:02 (Joanna) and Kathleen (18:04). VA #1 ranked Blacksburg boys defeat TN #1 ranked Morristown West 49-81.  Meet Results

 

Newport News Invitational: VA 3A #1 ranked Blake Theroux of Western Branch wins in a state best time of 15:33, but VA #2 ranked squad is upset by Grassfield 40-70 with Grassfield averaging 16:23 on a fast and flat 5K course at Newport News Park. Last year's VA 3A state runners-up Maggie Walker also roll with four of the top five finishers (despite missing #2 runner Katie Ardiff) and a team score of 20 points (19:23 team average).  Meet Results

 

Monroe Parker Invitational: Fast individual winners on the historic 2.98 Burke Lake Park course with Chris Foley of Chantilly at 15:03 as the boys winner and Liana Epstein of Lake Braddock at 17:53 as the girls winner. West Potomac boys and Lake Braddock girls earn early season Northern Region bragging rights in team victories.  Meet Results

 

Fork Union Invitational: Mills Godwin's Grant Pollock picks up his second straight major invitational win to start the 2009 cross country season as he outdueled Polish national Wojciech Czernek of Fork Union (15:18) with a 15:16 win on a hilly 3 mile cross country course. Western Albemarle girls put five girls in the top 6 and under 20 minutes to pull ahead of Brentsville 56-75, who had the race winner in Allison Bartels at 18:36.  Meet Results 

 

Florida:

Buchholz Jamboree Time Trial: Mary Ann Brown, Orange Park, beat out her closest competitor by almost two minutes to finish with a time of 18:40.  More Meet Coverage

 

South Brevard CC Jamboree: Brian Atkinson, Melbourne, put away the boys race by nearly a minute with a time of 15:44.  Meet Coverage

 

South Carolina:

Mark Blackmon, a Fort Mills soph, won the International race with the fastest time of the day, 16:00.  Alexa Neiling, Mauldin, won the girls International race with a time of 18:59.  

 

Maine:

Will Geoghegan, Brunswick, set a new course record at the KVAC Invite, beating rival Luke Fontaine, Cony, 15:47 to 16:01.  More Coverage

 

WMC Invite: Alex Moser, York, won the 3 mile race by 1:12 with a time of 15:27.1.  Emily Attwood, Cape Elizabeth, won with a time of 18:11.7.  More Coverage

 

New Hampshire:

Aaron Watanabe, Hanover, won the Varsity boys race at the Great Glen Invite with a time of 16:05.  Meet Results

 

Rhode Island:

Injury Fund XC Carnival: Bishop Hendricken teammates Jake Sienko and Brian Doyle went 1-2 with times of 16:08.53 and 16:08.86.  Stephanie Beaudette, St. Mary Academy, won the girls race with a time of 18:54.67.  Meet Results

 

Vermont:

The XC season opens with the first major invitational, the Essex InvitationalBen Lustgarten, Burlington, 16:51.73.  Meet Results

 

Maryland:

Cory Puffen, DeMatha Catholic, and Billy Ledder, Gonzaga College, dueled at the Magruder Invitational with Puffen rocking a 15:41.10 to Ledder's 15:57.  Meet Results

 

Petros Welday, Archbishop Carroll, won the boys race at the Richard Barnhardt Invite with a time of 15:48.96.  Stephanie Bryan, Governor Thomas Johnson, won the girls race in 19:06.06.  Meet Results

 

The Walter Johnson boys rolled to an easy victory at the Howard County Invitational with a team score of 33 points and 5 runners in the top-13.  Damascus boys were a solid 2nd with 82 points and 4 runners in the top-20.  Meet Results

 

Minnesota:

Faribault Invite: Sharmila Ahmed, Burnsville, won the girls 4k race with a solid time of 14:59.00.  Jon-Michael Brandt, Winona, won the boys 5k race with a time of 16:07.20.  Meet Results

 

Indiana:

Blackford Invite: Autumn Beachy, Dekalb, ripped the girls race to win by 33 seconds with a time of 18:55.16.  Ross Ochs, Huntington North, won the boys race with a swift 15:41.42, withstanding the challenge by Pendleton Heights Nathan Hendershot, who finished in 15:56.81.  Meet Results
