 Pennsylvania:

John Viking Invitational(PA): Freshman Sara Sargent, Pennsbury, (Photo by Don Rich) ran away from the field early on her way to a convincing course record win with a time of 17:48 on a legit 5k course.  The first time ever under 18:00 for the course puts Sara on the national radar as the second frosh in as many weeks to rip into the headlines with a head-turning performance.  What an exciting season this is shaping up to be!  Click here for meet results.


North Carolina:

8th Annual Jungle Run: Blake Williams, Northern Durham, set a new course record on his way to a 15:14.04 victory in the boys race.  Soph Samantha George, Millbrook, pulled away from the pack and won comfortable with a time of 18:12.66.

 

Wesley Frazier is at it again with another dual meet victory on her home course, this time bettering her course record to a 17:36.  We will get our first real good look at Wesley on the weekend of 9/19 when she will race at the 16th annual Reebok Wolfpack HS Cross Country Invitational, the same course that will later host the Great American XC Festival.

 

Eye Opener Invitational(SC): Laura Hoer, TC Roberson(NC), won the girls International race by 26 seconds with a time of 18:35.  TC Roberson won the team title with 3 in the top-5 and a score of 59 points. Click here for meet page and results.

 

Kansas:

Frosh Kaelyn Balch, Bishop Carroll, blazed a 14:39 on a tough 4k course at the Bishop Carroll XC Invite to beat defending state champion Mackenzie Maki by 10 seconds.  Meet results here.

 

Indiana:

Indiana Pre-State Meet: Hale O'Brennen, Cathedral, won the boys race with a swift 15:30.7.  Terre Haute North runner John Mascari was 2nd in 15:34.3.  Pre-States results page.

 

Harrison Invitational: Danielle Sullivan, Franklin Central HS, won the girls varsity race with a time of 18:30 over Dana Payonk, Lake Central HS, 18:36.  McCutcheon teammates Jared Wethington and Morgan Welsh finished 1-2 in the boys varsity race with times of 15:56 and 15:57.  Meet results here.

 

New York:

Bob McDaniel Invite: Max Straneva, Chenango Valley, runs to a solo victory in his home invitational with a time of 17:11.  Matt Johnson, Ithaca, was 2nd in 17:38.  Meet results here.

 

Niskayuna XC Ekiden: Burnt Hills girls put two relay teams out front in the 4x2500 meter race with times of 39:11 and 40:13.  Burnt Hills Kiersten Anderson had the fastest 2500 meter split by 37 seconds with a time of 9:06.30.  Shenendehowa won the boys relay with a time of 32:33 behind the quick running of Dan Harris, who split 7:49.70 for his 2500 meter leg.  Meet results here.

 

Maryland:

Interstate Classic: David Wilson, Smithsburg, ran the fastest time of the day from the Small Schools race with a time of 15:46.8.  Stephanie Bryan, Thomas Johnson, won the Large School girls race with a time of 18:43.8.  Meet results here.

 

Peter Geraghty XC Invite: Corey Puffet, Dematha, won the boys race with a time of 15:51.40.  Meet results here.

 

Virginia:

Chancellor Invite: Colin Mearns, Jamestown, won the boys varsity race with a time of 16:08.9.  Meet results here.

 

Ragged Mountain Cup: Wojciech Czernek, Fort Union, won the boys 2-mile with a time of 10:01.  Emily Moffett, Western Albemarle, won the girls 2-mile race with a time of 12:19.  Meet results here.
