Zarik Brown Dazzles With Ohio Indoor State Sprint Double

Saturday proved one thing in Ohio:

Zarik Brown is coming on fast.

The Dayton Wayne (OH) High School senior and University of Akron signee had a game-changing meet on Saturday at the OATCCC Indoor State Championships, scoring two state titles in the 200m and 400m while he grabbed a third-place finish in the 60m.

More importantly, Brown's performances in the 60-200-400 moved him on to the national leaderboard and intimate he's ready for an even bigger improvement outdoors.

Brown went for a winning mark of 21.54 in the 200m, ranking him 15th in the country at the distance, then captured another title in the 400m, posting a time of 48.77, which slotted him at 31st overall. His 60m time of 6.84 ranked him 16th nationally as well.

Brown had hinted at his potential this season, going 6.89/21.78/49.20, though perhaps the moment brought some new perspective to the future collegiate sprinter.

Among many big performers across Ohio's unofficial indoor state championships, Brown was likely the most surprising.
