Skinny: Affolder was Andy Powell's first commitment at the University of Washington, but the former University of Oregon head cross country coach, who is the head coach at Washington--while his wife, Maurica, will be the director of track and field--has nabbed some similarly talented athletes since then. Maton is a big one. He finished third at the USA Junior Championships this past spring in the 800m and scored a PR of 1:50.79 at the distance. He also posted a mile best of 4:08.13, and some believe he could even challenge for a sub-4 mile this spring as a senior at Camas.
