Breakdown: Expect fast times. Last year, two boys (Jacob McLeod and Sam Bowers in the video above) went sub-15 for 5K, and on Saturday we may have at least one who could do the same. Kyle Harkabus is coming off a season where he qualified for Foot Locker Nationals and ran a best of 14:53.90 ... as a sophomore. He also cracked the top of the charts in the 800m (1:52) and 1600m (4:13) in Georgia the following spring. So he could very well throw down a big performance here.
The girls race is less decided. While Hutchins, a freshman at Science Hill in Johnson City, Tennessee, is ranked No. 20 nationally, she'll have a tough race ahead of her. Turbes was a state champion in both the 800m and 1600m last track season (2:11.21/4:50.26) and Sumner was the same in the 800m, though she held a better PR (2:08.47) and also owns a 5K opener of 18:32.44 from September 1.
Expect Sumner and Turbes to push Hutchins in this race.
