Early-Season Ranking of California's top Girls XC Runners

#9 Colleen McCandless, Granada (NCS)

When you think about the most consistently good cross country programs for girls in Northern California, you would probably narrow your choices to a few teams. Among those teams in recent years is the Granada girls. Last season, Granada finished in 3rd place at the California state meet behind two Southern Section juggernauts, Claremont and Saugus. Their unquestioned leader was Colleen McCandless as she won the North Coast Section Division II individual title and led her team with a 8th place finish at the state meet. On the track, McCandless posted bests of 5:01.00 and 10:34.34. At the California state meet, McCandless finished in 8th place with a near PR of 10:35.26.
