Jakob Ingebrigtsen is currently the most talented 17-year-old distance runner on the planet, and the Norway teen sensation became the youngest European title-winner in history when he won gold in the 1500m on Friday in Berlin, Germany. He added a title in the 5K on Saturday.
Holding off older and more experienced competitors in the 1500m on Friday, including his brothers Henrik and Filip, Jakob claimed the win down the stretch of the big-time race in a winning time of 3:38.10.
Poland's Jake Lewandowski was second in 3:38.14, while Ingebrigtsen's brother Henrik was fourth and Filip fell to 12th -- this marked Jakob's first win over Filip and just his second against Henrik.
On Saturday, he took the championship in the 5K, scoring a winning time of 13:17.06, just ahead of his brother, Henrik, who was second in 13:18.75.
Jakob is coming off a recent performance at the U20 Championships in Finland, where he finished second in the 1500m in 3:41.89 and was third in the 5K in 13:20.78.
