
They might not get the headlines every week, but the class of 2020 boys are definitely making a name for themselves this spring.
Recently, Valor Christian (CO) High sophomore Cole Sprout entered his name into the national discussion by converting on a sophomore class record in the 3000m in a new US No. 1 time of 8:13.85.
But many more are in the wings.
In the sprints, Saguaro (AZ) High's Kelee Ringo leads the class in both the 100m (10.66, +0.2) and the 200m (21.44, +1.0), while Zachary (LA) High's Sean Burrell is inching toward his first sub 46-second effort in the 400m and El Paso Hank's Michael Abeyta is flying in the 800m (1:53.35).
Sprout's statewide counterpart Cruz Culpepper owns sophomore leads in the 1600m and 1-mile, while in California Matt Strangio has put his name on the 3200m ranks.
