The Scoop: Juicy Races, Statement Making Results And Program Defining Wins

2. Don't Forget About American Fork

The state of Utah has traditionally been stacked with high-performing athletes and teams.

Over the last few years, American Fork has typically been among the state's elite -- not to mention one of the nation's best.

But after the program saw the graduation of three of their best runners -- Casey Clinger, Mckay Johns, and Patrick Parker -- this past spring, some believed American Fork would have to take a backseat to upstarts like Springville and Timpanagos.

Well, after Saturday, American Fork made sure to stay in the conversation of the state's best with a narrow 122-124 win over Springville at the BYU Autumn Classic.

Springville was without its fifth runner, but American Fork was without one of their best, too.

This debate is only just beginning, but that's a good thing.

Junior Dalton Brems has taken over No. 1 duties for American Fork. He finished sixth overall in 15:12.00, while Clinger's younger brother, Carson, was 11th overall in 15:25.60. The program had an impressive 44-second spread and 15:37 average.

Could American Fork sneak back into the national rankings?
