NXN California Returning Rankings: Fastest 5,000 Boys

The NXN California region is a bit different than most of the other NXN regionals being that it uses the CIF state meet as a qualifier. Regardless, we will see some big names coming out of California this year.

One of those potential standout performers is Larkspur (CA) Redwood High School's Liam Anderson, who ran a 15:05.30 for the fastest returning 5K time this year. With that time, he was the runner-up at the D3 California state meet, only behind 2016 Riverside Rubidoux High graduate Erik Gonzalez. Anderson went on to finish 22nd at NXN.

Just behind Anderson at the CIF state meet was Joaquin Martinez De Pinillos, who finished third. Martinez De Pinillos was undefeated up until the state championships.

Two other strong runners based on time and previous years' performances are Meika Beaudoin-Rousseau and Jacob Korgan. Beaudoin-Rousseau took third at the 2016 D1 CIF state meet after running 15:09.70, trailing only seniors Luis Grijalva and Michael...
