Joaquin Martinez De Pinillos
The NXN California region is a bit different than most of the other NXN regionals being that it uses the CIF state meet as a qualifier. Regardless, we will see some big names coming out of California this year.
One of those potential standout performers is Larkspur (CA) Redwood High School's
Liam Anderson, who ran a 15:05.30 for the fastest returning 5K time this year. With that time, he was the runner-up at the D3 California state meet, only behind 2016 Riverside Rubidoux High graduate
Erik Gonzalez. Anderson went on to finish 22nd at NXN.
Just behind Anderson at the CIF state meet was
Joaquin Martinez De Pinillos, who finished third. Martinez De Pinillos was undefeated up until the state championships.
