
This season we've witnessed a variance of all-time great distance running beyond one mile. Focusing specifically on the 3000m and 3200m, we take a look at the nation's top production and then place where those athletes fit within their respective classes.
Saratoga Springs (NY) High's Kelsey Chmiel produced a national sophomore class record in the 3000m in May at the Eddy Games, going 9:18.09. In the boys field, Alex Maier's 8:52.30 and its conversion to 2-miles is just a few seconds shy of the sophomore class record.
