AUSTIN, TX - The McKinney North (Tx.) girls 4x100m relay ran a new US No. 13 all-time performance Friday at the University Interscholastic League Class 5A Championships, recording a time of 45.09 seconds to snag a state title from Mansfield Lake Ridge, who followed in 45.55.
McKinney North swept both the Class 5A sprint relays, also taking the victory in the 4x200m by running 1:36.15.
Both times are new UIL Class 5A meet records.
So far, McKinney North has won four events, including London Culbreath's 10:13.68 in the 3200m -- also a state record -- and Jania Martin's 54.59 second performance in the 400m.
The team is on pace to break the record for most points scored in UIL Class 5A Championships history. It was was set back in 2015 when the Fort Bend Marshall boys scored 90 points.
The Bulldogs still have London Culbreath left in the 1600m, as well as their 4x400m relay team, which currently holds the second fastest time in Class 5A. With a win in both, McKinney North would score 102 points.
