Jasmine Moore Breaks Sophomore Triple Jump National Record

Mansfield Lake Ridge (TX) High's Jasmine Moore broke the sophomore national class record in the triple jump Thursday at the University Interscholastic League Championships, jumping 43 feet 4.75 inches.

The jump is a new wind-legal US No. 1, and is the first wind-legal mark over 42 feet this year.

The jump breaks former Irvine Woodbridge (Ca.) High' Michelle Sanford's sophomore national class record of 43-4.5 set back in 2001. The mark also sets a new Texas UIL Class 5A record, breaking LaToya Phelps' record of 42-8.25, also set back in 2001.

Moore now holds both the freshmen and sophomore national class records in the event. Her freshmen national class record was set at the same meet last year when she jumped 42-1.75.
