The Scoop: A Legendary Weekend Takes Shape

5. Earning Distinction in Minnesota At One Of The Best Meets Of The Year

The Hamline Elite Meet is arguably getting better each and every year, perhaps rivaled only by the Minnesota High School League's Championships.

Held under the lights at Hamline University, the meet put together 162 elite performances, including a blistering 9:15.78 run in the girls 4x800 relay by Edina, a fantastic 4:17.00 in the boys 1600m by Maple Grove's Alex Miley and a lightning quick 10.53 second time in the 100m by Eden Prairie's Denzel Brown.

Then you had Saint Michael-Albertville's Anna Keefer, who connected for three wins in the 100m, 200m and long jump -- which gave her a new meet record in 19 feet, 3.5 inches. Not to be forgotten, Saint Francis High's Genuine Matthews ran a meet record 47.79 seconds.

The Hamline Elite Meet is fast growing as one of the best regular season meets in the state.

On Friday it yet again proved its distinction, leading to some truly fantastic performances.
