6. Record Breaking Efforts Across the Nation

Here's a list of big items that went down this weekend:

  • New Braunfels Canyon (Tx.) High senior Sam Worley made a revered list following his performance at the Region 6A-4 meet. By recording an 800m time of 1:49.68 - the first to do it this outdoor season - he became just the seventh American high schooler to run sub-1:50 in the 800m and sub-9:00 in the 3200m.
  • Out in California, Cooper Teare made another attempt at the 4-minute mile, coming up just short in a time of 4:01.29 at the Sacramento Meet of Champions.
  • Syracuse (UT) High's Hunter Woodhall ran his first time under 47 seconds since the Rio Paralympic Games, going 46.56, which lands him at US No. 12. He's also close to signing with a college program.
  • Miami Northwestern (Fl.) High's Thomas Burns ran his first time under 36 seconds in the 300mH, landing the No. 12 all-time best in the event with a clocking of 35.57 seconds.
