Weekend Rundown: National Records Fall!

Lake Braddock Girls Break DMR National Record by .3!

Last March at New Balance Nationals Indoor, North Rockland beat out Lake Braddock 11:34.85 to 11:39.10 to set a new national high school record in the DMR. Lake Braddock wasn't happy about it but with all four girls returning to the track in 2017, they knew they had a strong shot to break the record this year. It turns out they didn't have to wait for nationals as all four legs were raring to go at the VA Showcase and they combined for a final time of 11:34.54 to just slightly edge out the old record!

Here's the national record splits:

1200m - 3:41 (Shannon Browning)

400m - 59 (Skyla Davidson)

800m - 2:16 (Samantha Schwers)

1600m - 4:37 (Kate Murphy)

Check out the post-race interview with the Bruins:

Murphy is the third-fastest all-time performer over 1K and she was scheduled to compete in that race vs. No. 2 all-time Sammy Watson in a national record attempt. However, Murphy pulled out due to feeling a bit banged up, which she addresses in the interview video above.
