NXN Southwest Regional - results & coverage
Girls
Auto Qualifiers:
1. Mountain Vista (CO), 88 points
2. Desert Vista (AZ), 100 points
Potential Wildcards:
3. Broomfield (CO), 127 points
PROs: Beat Mountain Vista at Colorado state meet and at the Metro State Roadrunner/Mountain Vista Invitational, which will almost assure them the wildcard bid. Since 2012, the third place team has always earned a wildcard bid from SW region.
4. American Fork (UT), 133 points
PROs: defending region champs were sixth at NXN last year - historically strong performances could give them a boost; Utah 5A state champions
CONs: second at Bob Firman behind Jesuit (6th at NXN NW). While the third place team in this region traditionally gets a wildcard bid, the fourth place team does not.

Boys
Auto Qualifiers:
1. American Fork (UT), 121
2. Davis (UT), 163
Potential Wildcards:
3. Springville (UT), 195
4. Timpanogos (UT), 201
PROs: Southwest Region is the arguably the toughest region in the country, as we had five boys teams from Utah alone and six total SW teams ranked in the Saucony Flo50 on the recent update. Last year, both the third and fourth place boys teams won wildcard bids.
CONs: Neither team has a big win over a ranked team on their resume. They placed 2-3 behind Olympus at the Utah 4A state meet. Timpanogos won the Nike Portland XC Invitational (no ranked teams); Springville beat Timpanogos at the Red Devil Invitational.
