Top Five Things To Watch At State Meets This Weekend

Broomfield won the Metro State Roadrunner Invitational over Mountain Vista, 46 to 47 points.

No. 20 Broomfield vs. No. 21 Mountain Vista girls in Colorado Class 5A meet

As exciting as the individual match-up between Brie Oakley and Lauren Gregory will be, the team battle at the Colorado Class 5A state meet could be even closer as No. 20 Broomfield and No. 21 Mountain Vista are very evenly matched.

Mountain Vista debuted at No. 19 in the national rankings with a fourth-place finish at the Woodbridge Sweepstakes. Just a few weeks later, they fell to unranked Broomfield High in a very tight 46-47 contest at the Metro State Roadrunner Invitational.

The virtual meet projects Broomfield to take the team state title, 101 points to 120 points. Take a look below to see the projection based on season-best 5K marks:

However, Colorado webmaster Alan Versaw predicts Mountain Vista's Carolina Eck to outrun her projection and place within the top five overall runners. When everyone is "on," Mountain Vista has a tight pack and if Eck ran place in the top five or 10 overall, the rest of the top five will be right behind her en route to the team title.
