German Fernandez (Sr., Riverbank, CA) has done it again. At the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III Championships Thursday evening, Fernandez ran an impressive distance double. The Oklahoma State-bound senior won the 1600m run in a new U.S. #1 time of 4:05.57, running splits of 60, 61, 62, 62 according to The Modesto Bee. Fernandez also ran a great mark in the 3200m as well, winning and nearly lapping the entire field with a 9:00.10 victory. While news broke earlier in the week that Foot Locker champion Michael Fout (IN) will end his season due to injury, it seems like Fernandez has bounced back from his early season injury and is really rounding into shape.
