Sydney McLaughlin Debuts in 400m Hurdles

After taking the winter off from the hurdles due to a groin injury, Sydney McLaughlin competed in her race over barriers since winning the World Youth Championships last summer. The junior from Union Catholic, N.J. clocked 58.43 -- the No. 2 time in the nation this year.

Pan-American Junior champion Anna Cockrell of Providence Day, N.C. owns the U.S. No. 1 mark with her season-best of 57.77.

McLaughlin set the national high school record in the indoor 400m this winter with a 51.84 at New Balance Nationals Indoor. Her personal best in the hurdles is 55.28, the No. 2 mark in prep history... for now.
