A Post-Sweat Chat with Amanda Crawford

Amanda Crawford is the senior leader of the nation's fastest sprint relays: the Paul Robeson High School girls are ranked No. 1 in the 4x200-meter relay (1:37.80) and No. 3 in the 4x400-meter relay (3:48.95). The University of Alabama recruit is also nationally ranked in the 300m (U.S. No. 6, 38.64) and the 600m (U.S. No. 8, 1:33.31), though her main event is the 400m -- she owns a PR of 54.22 and is a returning New Balance Nationals Indoor All-American. Amanda takes a 90-minute subway ride twice a week from her school in Brooklyn to practice with her team at the Armory. We chatted after her practice last week before the Millrose Games, where Robeson went on to sweep the Eastern Girls 4x400m and PSAL Girls 4x00m races.

[I have to leave practice early because...] I have class from 6 to 8:30 at City Tech; I'm taking EMT -- Electromechanical Engineering Technology. I have to finish in June for my Associate's Degree.... I always have to do things on my own so it's teaching me how to mature, I have to figure out when working out is good for my schedule even when I'm not with my team.
