NXN Ultimate Preview: Boys Teams

At every meet, someone has to get last. At the national championship--with 22 teams in a country with 50 states--that last place team is necessarily good enough to have won dozens of state championships that year. As Bill Meylan put it this week, the NXN field is so good that it's usually harder to predict last place than first place. I actually have a college teammate who ran on a last-place NXN team; he was still defensive about it roughly a decade later, feistily explaining that they were still the best team in their state's history and they just screwed up their peak.

There's nothing to be defensive about. The last place team at NXN is still a sick, sick team. Here's hoping I got both of those projections wrong.
