While meets scattered throughout the United States put up some great marks this weekend, few put up as many top marks as the Kent State H.S. Open, held at Kent State University (OH).  Top athletes from Ohio and Pennsylvania took to the amazing indoor track facility and took advantage of the situation.

What resulted were a few U.S. #1 elite marks.  Kendall Gregory (OH) (pictured left) led the way on the boys side.  Gregory, who has been ranked U.S. #1 in the 500m dash earlier in the indoor season, ran a U.S. #1 time of 47.99 for 400m, winning his heat by over a second.  Another top boys time came in the 800m dash, where Jared Hall (OH) ran the U.S. #2 time in the event with his winning mark of 1:53.89, showing he is a name to remember in that event all season.

On the girls side, Foot Locker finalist Carly Seymour (PA) ran a U.S. #1 time for 3200m, running 10:47.16 and winning the event by 25 seconds over in-state rival Kacey Gibson (PA).  Seymour also ran 5:09.93 to win the 1600m run.  Another top five U.S. mark came in the girls high jump, as Ashley Galbraith (OH) lept 5-08.  A top boys sprint time came from Mike Shaw (OH), running a U.S. #5 time of 21.89 to win the 200m dash.

Meanwhile in the sprint relays, two boys squads took the meet by storm and earned some impressive times.  Cleveland Heights (OH) ran a U.S. #1 in the 4x400m relay, winning the event in 3:18.41.  In the boys 4x200m relay Trotwood-Madison (OH) ran a U.S. #2 time with their winning performance of 1:29.02.

MSTCA Elite Meet (MA): The Best Come Together

MSTCA Elite Meet Results: Boys / Girls

The MSTCA Elite Meet brough together most of the top athletes in Massachusetts Sunday for an intense invitational.  A handful of schools really showed their strength in the event, while a handful of individuals ran incredibly well.

On the boys side Woburn dominated many events.  Woburn teammates Ryad Bencheikh and Brett Sullivan won their respective individual races in the 600m and 1000m dashes.  Bencheikh's time in the 600m ranks him in the top ten nationally, easily beating the field with his time of 1:20.93.  Sullivan also  ran a U.S. top ten time, this time running 2:32.52 for 1000m.  Woburn also won the 4x400m relay with a great time of 3:23.51.

The closest and most exciting finish of the day came in the boys 4x200m relay.  Woburn and Charlestown battled for much of the race, and in the final leg it was unclear which team would win.  Into the final turn both teams came, and when they crossed the line everyone was uncertain who had won.  In the end both schools earned marks of 1:31.6 in the event, while Charlestown won going down to the thousandth of a second, 1:31.521-1:31.530.  So close!

On the girls side, Newton South junior teammates Bridget Dahlberg and Kelsey Karys dominated the mile and two mile races.  Dahlberg won the mile in 5:02.62, while Karys ran 10:48.73.  Both athletes earned marks that rank them in the MileSplit National Elite Rankings, while Karys' time ranks her at the U.S. #3 spot.

While the distance events were showcasing some of the top talent of the state, the girls 600m dash had a U.S. top five time as well.  Meg Looney (Bishop Feehan) ran 1:33.61 in the event, easily beating the field and earning a U.S. #4 ranking.

In the final track event of the day on the girls side, the 4x400m relay provided an exciting finish.  Much like the boys 4x200m relay, the end results were mighty close.  Andover, Mansfield and Wachusett Regional all finished with .69 of each other.  Andover won the race in 4:02.01, Mansfield second in 4:02.25 and Wachusett Reg. placed third in 4:02.71.

NH Indoor State Results: Boys / Girls

The best of the best in the state of New Hampshire went head-to-head Sunday at the New Hampshire Indoor State T&F Championships.  While the state spread out seven seperate meets for each team to compete in during their indoor season, none of them were even close to being as competitive as this one.

In the sprints, Lebanon showed that they have two stars in the making.  Anna Cioffredi and Chris Cheever both won the 55m dash and 300m dash.  Both athletes cruised through their respective fields on the way to their wins.

In the girls distance events, Kaitlyn D'Orazio (St. Thomas) and Georgia Griffin (Hanover) (pictured left) showed their strength.  D'Orazio won both the 1000m run and the 1500m run.  She won the 1000m race in 2:55.59, which currently ranks her sixth in the nation, while she won the 1500m in 4:46.12.  Griffin meanwhile won the 3k in 10:00.84, which ranks her fourth nationally.

On the boys side, Alex McGrath (ConVal) won the boys 1500m and 3k races.  His winning 1500m time was 4:11.96, while his 3k time was 8:46.73.  His 3k effort currently ranks him fifth in the nation at that distance.
