With the holiday season in full swing and high schoolers around the nation being let out on a two week break, few meets took place across the U.S. this weekend. However, a few meets and a few performances are definitely worth noting. In our weekly weekend wrap-up, see who started their season on a high note.

The girls of Holy Names (NY) ran the second fastest time ever in the 4x1500 meter relay running 19:16.5, only .07 behind last year's national record setter Greenwich (NY). Anchor Jordan White ran away to victory for her squad with a 4:38 leg, outdistacing second place Bronxville (NY) by nearly eight seconds (19:24.0), which put Bronxville fourth-all time.
A few other performances of note came from the Iona Prep (NY) boys. Mike Foster won the triple jump with a great leap of 46' 6.5". His mark beat the rest of the field by nearly ten feet. Also, the team won the 4x1 mile relay in 18:30, winning by six seconds and a very solid mark this early in the season.

Foot Locker finalist Emily Lipari (So., Roslyn, NY) quickly returned to action after her great race in San Diego less than three weeks ago. Lipari won the girl's 1600m in 5:00.1 to win by 23.5 seconds. Her mark easily put her as the top performer at the day on the girl's side. Another solid performance came from Immaculate Conception's (NY) Dominique Booker who won the 55m and 200m dashes in 7.0 and 25.1 respectively.
On the boy's side two big performances stood out. Zacharia Ahmed (Highstown, NJ) won the shot put with a throw of 55' 1", establishing himself as one of the top throwers early in this '07-'08 track season. Hillsborough (NJ) put together a solid 4x800m relay effort in 8:07.0. Their mark put them 24.6 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
PCL Indoor Meet #1 (PA)
With the girls competing on Monday and the boys competing on Tuesday at Haverford College, a lot of great performances were put up in this league competition. Sean Wilkes (Bonner, PA) won the shot put in 55' 10", while Archbishop Ryan's (PA) distance star Sean Mallon won the 800 & 1600 in 2:01.1 and 4:30.6 respectively. Cardinal O'Hara (PA) athlete Sarah Houtmann won three events on the girls side, winning the 55m, 200m and long jump competitions.
TFCAGP DI Indoor Meet #4 (PA)
LaSalle, Council Rock North, North Penn, Pennridge and Hatboro Horsham all cracked 11 minutes in the DMR, with LaSalle coming out on top by less than a second over CRN with a time of 10:47.6. Neshaminy's Tim Mallory cleared a strong 6-6 in the high jump. Pennridge's Craig Sherwood was over the pole vault at 14-6. Darryl Thomas, Coatesville, threw the shot 54-04. Lower Merion's Ben Furcht nipped North Penn's Brad Miles by 2/10th of a sec in the 3000, timed in 9:11.2. Report from Penntrackxc.com
