Top 5 Moments From World Youth Trials - Day 1

Lyles brothers still not willing to share first place, Josephus prime for double win

The Lyles brothers not letting anyone else win anything. They swept the sprints at the New Balance Nationals with Noah winning the 100 and 200, while Josephus repeated as the 400 meter champion. This past weekend, Noah won the US Junior Nationals 100 and 200 titles over Ryan Clark and Michael Norman (200 only) in Eugene, Oregon.

After the first day of the World Youth Trials, Josephus Lyles looks primed to be the winner tomorrow in both the 400 and 200 meter dash as the fastest qualifier in both events. After breaking 46 seconds for the first time at New Balance Nationals, Lyles won his 400 meter heat with ease in a time of 47.63.

In the 200 meter dash, Lyles also clocked the fastest time of the qualifying round in 21.30. The junior from T.C. Williams could be looking to throw down his first sub 21 second performance tomorrow in the finals. His finals race just got a lot easier with the fastest entrant in Texas state champion Shamon Ehiemua pulling up and not finishing his preliminary heat with Lyles.
