Tasty Race of the Week: Two XC All-American Sophomores from VA Battle to the End

The Virginia Group 6A North Regional last Thursday at the Prince George County's Sports & Learning Center saw an exciting wire to wire finish in the girls 1600 meter run between two of the best distance sophomores in the nation in Lake Braddock's Kate Murphy and Patriot's Rachel McArthur. The rivalry dates back to the cross country season when both finished top 25 at Nike Cross Nationals with Murphy just edging out the Virginia 6A state XC champ McArthur at the line in Portland. In their first head to head race of the winter after both defeated Foot Locker All-American and fellow sophomore Libby Davidson (E.C. Glass) earlier in the indoor season for state sophomore bragging rights, the race could not have been any more intense. Watch above.

have an eerily similar finish

Can McArthur get revenge next weekend at the state meet against Murphy? Revenge and rivalries....mmmm tasty!
