At the McEachern Invitational, one of the nation's fastest sprinters faced a loaded field of competition in the 100m final.
There were three boys lined up in an epic showdown in the straightaway race in Powder Springs.
Football recruit Dwight Phillips faced Chris Nelson, who was the defending champion in this event, and Eric Singleton.
Phillips wasn't leading from the start and he had to play a game of catchup. His top-end speed however couldn't be matched as Phillips was able to overtake Nelson and Singleton in the second half of the race. Phillips clocked his fourth sub-10.35 of the 2023 season with a 10.35 (+0.7) to take the victory.
Nelson was second in 10.37 and Singleton was third in 10.40 respectively.
