Devin King goes vertical again on all-time list...US #2 A-T 17'8" pole vault at LSU!

Video of Devin King's 17'8" clearance in pole vault

Devin King, a senior at Sumner High School in Louisiana, dazzled the track fans at LSU's indoor track facility last weekend and amazed the rest of the nation when news spread of his 17'4" in the pole vault to move himself into the US top 10 all-time indoors list in the event. However, King wanted to go even further up the all-time list and wasted no time making a vertical push up it as on Saturday back at LSU for their last chance high school qualifier meet, last year's Word Youth Championships qualifier King cleared a US #2 high school all-time height of 17'8"! Only 1 1/4 more inches now separates King from the national record height of 17'9.25" set by Andrew Irwin of Mt. Ida High School in Arkansas back in 2011. See the photo sequence of King's 17'8" clearance below by Angelle Albright.
