It is easy to see from the start that Nansemond River, Western Branch, and Bethel absolutely dominate this list. Three Virginians finish inside the top 10 in the two championship races to advance to Nationals out in San Diego in two weeks. Leading these finishers was Heather Holt (GCM) who put up a great last surge to finish second in 17:23.
This past Saturday Team VA put on a show down at the NXN-Southeast Regional. Though there were many races on the day at the WakeMed course in Cary, NC, the two centers of attention were the championship races just prior to noon. Up first was the boys race.

Though there are over a dozen races on the day, the biggest of those races are the Boys and Girls Championship races scheduled right in the middle of competition.

Knowing how talented and stacked the girls 6A race was it was no surprise that the race went fast. Though it was stacked, one athlete just showed that on that day she was the best ever. Lake Braddock Secondary senior and Oregon commit Kate Murphy blew past the field the final mile and went on to run a state meet and course record of 17:08.
