One of the nation's top returning talents will be tough to stop in 2017. Tennessee's Brodey Hasty, a fast rising prospect who finished third at NXN a year ago, enters with a PB of 14:32.00 in 2016. He has the talent to challenge for a national title.
But the Southeast region is chalk full of experience and could dominant XC course en route to a special year. Some of the top returning talent in the region include Trinity Christian (Ga.) High's Jacob McLeod (15:07.10), Bolles (Fl.) High's Charles Hicks (15:07.10), Grafton (Va.) High's Price Owens (15:07.70) and McDonogh (Md.) School's Dalton Hengst (15:11.20).
Eight runners have run 15:15 or faster in the Southeast, including Woodrow Wilson (WV) High's Chris Barbera (15:11.27), Northern Guilford (NC) High's David Melville (15:12.50) and Loudoun Valley (Va.) High's Peter Morris (15:14.00).
