Boys Preview: Billy Orman, AZ, leads the contenders as an Arizona state champion and the NXN Southwest champion.  He decided to give up his NXN berth in search of a national title in San Diego.  Nathan Weitz, WA, is also in contention for the title.  Weitz has had a successful season in Washington, with a state title to his credit.  Andrew Gardner, also from Washington, struggled at states, but is in great shape and looks to finish inside the top-10 as well.  Matt Carpowich, CA, ran a solid 3 mile at Mt. SAC and also ran well at the California state meet with a time of 15:11.  Chris Brewer, CA, also ran well in Cali with a time of 15:05.  Matthew Melancon, OR, will also be in the hunt after winning the 6A state title in Oregon.

Girls Preview: Maddie Meyers, WA, has had a stellar season that was capped with a 1A state title, which she won by nearly 2 minutes.  Another contender is 2009 Foot Locker finalist Molly Grabill, CA, who won Nike Pre-Nationals and Mt. SAC before faltering a bit at the CA state meet with a 6th place showing.  Look for Grabill to bounce back and earn yet another berth in the big show.  Julia Foster, NM, was another athlete who gave up a NXN berth for a chance at Foot Locker glory.  Foster won the NXN Southwest meet, but will look for a top-10 finish and possibly even a run at the win.  Alli Billmeyer, CA, was 14th last year at FL West, but looks poised to finish in the top-10 this year after a season that included a 3rd place finish at both Mt. SAC and the CA state meet.  Clare Carroll, CA, finished 2nd in her section at the CA state meet to add to a 6th place finish at the Stanford Invite earlier in the year, and should contend for a top-10 finish.  Another returner is Kinsey Gomez, ID, who finished FL West in the unenviable position of 11th in 2009.  With that experience and a ID state title to her credit this year Gomez looks poised to make a run at the top-10 and a trip to the finals.
