The Big Fat Meet Preview: What to Watch 1/16 Weekend

Arkansas High School Invitational (Fayetteville, AR)

Brian Herron's freshman 400m record might not even last three weeks. And Terrell Jackson's staredown might not even be the most entertaining 400m run at the Arkansas High School Invitational. That's how loaded the boys sprints are at this year's edition in Fayetteville, as Tyrese Cooper is making his high school debut against Keshun Reed in the 200m. (Jackson is running the 800m at Arkansas, while Herron is not entered. Cooper is doing the 200/400 double, and Reed is opting for the 60 and 200)

Cooper ran 46.44 as an eighth grader last outdoor season, while Reed ran 47.04--the current US #1--in the dark at Texas A&M last weekend. The numbers to watch for Cooper: Herron's ninth grade class record in the 400m is 48.76, while Herron's 21.84 is the frosh 200m record.
