What to Watch: 81st Eastern States Championship

Relays

Arlington, NY ran US #1 7:47.29 to win the Millrose Games - which is just two seconds off the Eastern States Championship meet record.

  • Boys 4x200m - Newburgh Free Academy (NY) has ruled the national leaderboard with their US #1 1:27.64, clocked at the Millrose Games on Valentine's Day. No one will be close, but the quartet should have their eyes on the Meet Record of 1:26.90, set by Camden in 2004.
  • Girls 4x200m - With a season-best of 1:37.96, Medgar Evers is already ahead of their own Meet Record 1:39.27 from 2011 - not to mention more than a full second ahead of any other squad in the country this year. It's Brenessa Thompson & Co. versus the clock in this one.
  • Boys 4x800m - James Asselmeyer dropped a 1:50.88 split to anchor Arlington to a US #1 mark of 7:47.29 at the Millrose Games. If they can summon a similar fire, the Meet Record of 7:45.55 from Pleasantville, NJ in 2013 is in danger.
  • Boys DMR - CT squad Darien has not raced a DMR this season, but is entered in search of a New Balance Nationals qualifier. They will need to hit 10:28.00 to advance to the national championship, which is feasible considering the strength of Alex Ostberg (US #1 9:00.58 Two Miles) and Armstrong Noonan (US #3 9:09.15 Two Miles).
