SAN ELIZARIO, Tex. -- Twenty-four miles southeast of El Paso lies San Elizario, a border town of just over 13,000 people.

It's the home of farmers, field workers and hard-working people, the majority of them of Mexican-American descent.

But in this community also lies the home of the six-time Texas High School state champions in boys cross country.

The San Elizario boys team has built a reputation for being the best in Texas Class 4A, despite personal obstacles and responsibilities back home, and what's defined their success over that span has been equal parts culture, hope and ambition for more.

MileSplit spent time with the team this fall as they chased after their dream of reaching the state championships once more, and vying for another state title.
