Editor's Comments

A lot can happen in three weeks. A total of 20 new athletes enter the MileSplit50 for the June 7 release date, including two inside the top 10: Tmars McCallum and Rodrick Pleasant. In the case of the South Carolina and California sprint stars, however, when you burst toward the top of the 100m and 200m national leaderboards, we tend to notice. Tmars deserves the biggest jump after his remarkable state championships in his home state, while Pleasant himself set a new California state record in the 100m. But beyond those two, Newbury Park's Colin Sahlman has officially moved up to No. 1, while Woodstock's Will Sumner is circling as the year ends -- Sumner was our 2022 Indoor Athlete of the Year. If he breaks a national record in the 800m to end the year, there just might be a very good argument between the top two athletes of 2022.
