  1. Classifications

  • The meet shall be conducted as a co-educational meet with boys and girls competing in their respective events.

  • Senior - under the age of 19 as of Sept. 1 of this school - year  (2023-24)

  • Intermediate - under the age of 17 as of Sept. 1 of this school year  (2023-24)

  • Junior - under the age of 16 as of Sept. 1 of this school year (2023-24)

  1. Regulation of Entries

  • Each school will be allowed to enter 3 entries in each event, except in the races where there are not enough lanes (100, 200, 400, hurdles, relays).  Only two entries will be eligible to compete in the 100m, 200m, 400m, and hurdles.  Only one relay team per event per school.  Because we now have 7 schools in this meet, we may have to run heats, taking the top 2 times regardless of heat.  Heat placement will be determined by random draw previous to the meet.

  • Each competitor may enter a maximum of four (4) individual events PLUS relays.  The number of individual track events must not exceed three (3) PLUS relays.

  • JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES are not eligible to participate in this meet nor are they eligible to participate in the ASAA provincial meet.

  • The first and second place  relay teams will go on to the Area meet.  The coaches of the winning teams will choose if there will be any changes to the makeup of the team.

  • Competitors are limited to competition in one class at a meet.  An athlete may move up a class but only if all events are in the same class except for open events.

  1. Awards and Advancement

  • Point system will be similar to the zone meet 9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 for all events.  1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th ,and, 5th place will receive ribbons for each event.  Aggregate medals will be given in each category for the top athlete that collects the most points.  Relay team points will not be tabulated in the aggregate point total.

  • At the conclusion of each event, the top two competitors are required to report to the track shed.  The top two competitors in each event must declare their intentions for the area competition at this time.  Top two in laned events qualify for Areas and top three in all other events.  Areas are in Camrose on Wednesday, May 17th.  Please make sure that your athlete informs the results person if they plan on going on to the next meet. We assume they are unless informed otherwise.

  1. Marshaling Procedures and Substitutions

  • All events will be marshaled in the area where the event occurs or at the start line of all track events.  Athletes must report to the appropriate marshaling area.

  • Track events take precedence over field events.  Competitors are encouraged to use the buddy system to assist them in marshaling.  Athletes must let the marshal know if they are involved in two events at the same time.

  • The first check-in for all events will be 30 min. prior to the start of the event.  The second and FINAL check-in for all events will be 15 min. prior to the start of the event.  Those athletes who have not checked in with the marshal by the second and final call will be scratched.

  • The meet may run ahead of schedule.

  • Coaches will be allowed 5 minutes past the second call to substitute another athlete, having first cleared the substitution with the City/County Track & Field Chairman.

  • Order of lane assignments will be given to the athlete upon marshaling.  Lanes will be seeded by the order in which the school entries were received.

  • At the conclusion of each track event, competitors will be asked to stay in their lanes and to back up towards the finish line.  This will aid the finish judges.

  • Throwers and jumpers will receive three (3) trials with the top 6 receiving an additional three (3) trials.
