6th Annual Kirn Invite

Date:Monday, April 15, 2024

Start Time:Field Events: 3:00 pm; Running Events: 3:45 pm

Location:Gale Wickersham Athletic Complex, Gale Wickersham Stadium, Bob Nielsen Track

Everyone please enter at 18th and Avenue G  . Buses can drop off athletes at the main gate then all Bus and athlete parking needs to be to the South of the Fred Maher Team Building or in the Wilson MS Parking lot.  Take your 1st immediate left when entering.  All Spectator parking will be in the main two lots

Competing Schools:Kirn, Wilson, Mission, Lewis and Clark, Logan, Westside, La Vista

Admission:$5.00 - Adults, Students free.  No Passes Accepted.

Meet Director/Officials: Tyler McGee, Athletic Director -; Mike Hale--Starter, Joel Nelson--FinishLynx.  All Protests or Questions need to come to one of these people.

Facilities:The Bob Nielsen Track is a polyurethane all-weather surface on which only or smaller pyramid spikes.  No needle or Christmas tree spikes are allowed.  Coaches, please DO NOT allow athletes to place tape on the running surface.  Starting blocks will be furnished.   Team tents/camps must be set up in the visitor bleacher areas.  Shot put and discus have concrete surfaces.  High jump and long jump have the same surface as the track.

Scoring:  Relays:  10-8-6-4-2-1 Individual:  10-8-6-4-2-1

All events are timed finals, no prelims 

Field Events: 3 trials for all contestants in shot, discus, and long jump.  

Timing:FAT FinishLynx timing, each contestant when checking in will be assigned a hip number to identify them in the system.  Hip Numbers must be worn on the left hip.

Implements:Each school should provide their own legal implements for the shot, discus, and relay events. Boys will use the 8lb. shot. Girls will use the  6lb. shot.

Uniform:IGHSAU, IHSAA rules will be enforced in regard to uniform and jewelry.

Contestant Entries:All contestants are limited to four (4) Events. 3 for running and one field event.

  • One (1) entry per school in the relay events .  

  • Schools may enter up to three (3) participants in individual events  

  • 1 Relay team per event.

Entries open on April 8th, 8am and close on Sunday, April 14th at 7pm. Only scratches and changes at the meet.

  1. Make sure individuals have not exceeded the entry limitation rule.

General Information:  Only contestants in uniform, coaches and meet officials will be permitted on the track or in competition areas.  Coaches, for safety considerations,your cooperation is greatly appreciated by informing your athletes of theinherent danger near the discus and shot put competition areas.  Be certain that your athletes know where to find you or your assistants in the event of illness, accident, or injury.  Remind your athletes to take time and thank the many workers who volunteer their free time to help create this opportunity for competition.  We always appreciate athletes of schools that deposit trash in the receptacles prior to leaving the stadium.

Concessions: Boosters will run the concession stand.

Meet Results/Awards:Available at the conclusion of the meet in the Officials Room in the Fred Maher Building.  Please pick up an Award Packet and check contents for accuracy prior to your departure.  Results will be emailed to Athletic Directors and Coaches.

Inclement Weather:

Any cancellation/postponement will be communicated with each school by email and Twitter.
