Rules and Regulations:

Athletes may participate in up to three individual events. They cannot participate in three running events or three field events. Athletes may also run in at most one relay event in addition to their individual events. *(Please watch this. It is the most common mistake on entries!)

  1. For running events, athletes will receive a number to wear and there is a photo finish to determine results as well. 

  1. Divisions will be 5th Grade Boys, 5th Girls, 6th Grade Boys, 6th Grade Girls, 7th Grade Boys, 7th Grade Girls, 8th Grade Boys, and 8th Grade Girls.

  1. Individuals may compete at or above grade level, but not below.

  1. Schools may enter no more than three individuals in each track and field event for each division.

  1. Participant Changes deadline: Thursday, May 9th at 12:00 pm. We will be doing lane assignments immediately after the deadline and all entrants must be in for the lane assignments to be fairly distributed. 

  1. Hope Lutheran AD must approve substitutions for relay teams due to injury.  No other substitutions will be allowed after noon on Thursday, May 9th. 

  1. No athletes will be added to the roster sheets at any of the event sites.  Scratches are allowed. 

  1. Unless otherwise specified, we will follow the NFHS rules for Track and Field including 2024 rule updates.  These can be accessed at NFHS.org.

  1. There will be a coaches meeting at 8:00 a.m. on May 11th 

If parents wish their child to remain anonymous, please do not enter their full name.  The results database is searchable.  Please ask if you have questions regarding this.

Event Notes:

  1. All throwing events (shot put, discus, and javelin) will be held behind the bleachers.

  1. All grades of girls and boys will participate in shot put, discus, and turbo javelin. The running surface for the javelin is grass.  The shotput will be 6 pounds for all 5th and 6th athletes, and 7th and 8th girls. 7th and 8th boys division will use 8.8 pounds for shot put.   Javelin is 300g. Discus is 1k. Shot put, discus, and turbo javelin are provided. 

  1. Only the 100 M dash has preliminaries.  All other races will be run as finals.  If there are not enough participants to run preliminaries, then the event will be run as finals.

  1. The finals of the 100 M will be determined by the best eight times.

  1. Any false start is charged to the field and then any second false start results in a disqualification of that athlete.

General Notes:

  1. Spikes for a composite track will be permitted. These should be no longer than inch. 

  1. Starting blocks will be permitted but not provided.

  1. No shade will be available, so bring sunscreen. Please dress for the weather as it could be very windy or chilly that day.  There is a very large bleacher area for teams and families.

  1. The time schedule shows approximate times.  Please be aware that the order of the events is what is important not the time it is scheduled.  We may run them ahead of schedule so make sure your athletes are prepared.

  1. No one will be allowed in the center of the field. We would ask that your athletes stay totally out of that area to assist the timers. Coaches will be given a wristbands during the meeting to enter this area.

  1. Points are as follows:  1st place = 10 pts, 2nd place = 8 pts, 3rd place = 6 pts, 4th place = 4 pts, 5th place = 2 pts, 6th place = 1 pt.

  1. Individual ribbons will be given to the top six places in each event.  Ribbons will be available for pickup at Hope Lutheran a few days after the event.
