2024 LHSAA 5A - Region 2 Championships at Denham Springs High School

Thursday, April 25, 2024  (bad weather alternate date is Friday, April 26th)

Dear Coaches,

Information for the 2024 LHSAA 5A - Region 2 Championships at Denham Springs High School:

      ENTRIES:  MileSplit will populate entries based on district results.  You will be allowed to edit relays in MileSplit.  Edits must be completed by noon on 4/23/2024.  

    SCRATCHES & ALTERNATES:  There will be no scratch meeting for the Regional meet. Schools that qualify contestants from the district meet to the regional meet shall declare by 12:00 noon two (2) days prior to the regional meet any scratches for those qualifying to the regional meet. It will be the responsibility of the school that scratches a contestant to notify the alternate school qualifier by 12:00 noon two (2) days prior to the regional meet.  Alternates: Fifth-place finishers in each event in all district meets will be alternates to the regional meet.  (6th place finishers shall not be alternates)

     MEET ENTRY FEE:  Meet entry is $80 per team or $10 per athlete if less than 8 total athletes.  Boys and Girls count as separate teams.  Make checks payable to Denham Springs High School.  

     TICKETS:  Admission will be $12.  Five years and under are free.  Tickets can be purchased at i2tickets.com.  There are entrance gates on the home and away sides of the stadium.

     SCHOOL BUS PARKING:  School buses are asked to drop off at the home entrance and park in the softball parking lot behind the home side of the stadium.  Denham Springs High School releases students at 2:35.  Be mindful of school traffic when arriving to the school.

      TEAM AREAS:  Team areas can be setup in two locations:  under the home-side bleachers in the gravel or in the visitor-side bleachers.  Please keep the top rows of the visitor bleachers open for spectators.  Do not setup team areas in the grass, on the infield ,or under the visitor bleachers.

      FIELD ACCESS:  Once the track events start, all gates will be locked.  Athletes that have checked in for their event will be allowed to enter the southwest gate on the visitor side across from the football fieldhouse.  Anyone jumping a fence will be escorted out of the stadium and not allowed to return.

      WARM UP: Warm-ups will be on the track during the field events ONLY. When an athlete finishes his/her event, we ask that he/she returns to the team area. Only coaches will be allowed on the infield during the events. We ask that you help us enforce this rule.  Only athletes who are warming up and have had their event called, will be allowed on the infield.

      ROLLING SCHEDULE:  Running  events will be on a rolling schedule. Make sure your athletes are aware and know their heat in order to keep the meet running smoothly.

      CONCESSIONS:  No food or drinks will be allowed into the stadium.  No sunflower seeds in the stadium.  Concessions will be sold and is cash only.  There will be a hospitality room for coaches.

      FIELD EVENTS:  Except for high jump, all of the field events are located behind the visitor-side bleachers. High jump takes place behind  the north end zone.

    o   Only participating athletes and coaches are allowed in the competition areas.

    o   Weigh in for implements will be from 2:30 - 3:00 next to the visitor side bathrooms

      TRACK FACILITIES:

    o   Please use tape on the track and runways for marking spots.  Do not use chalk.

    o   Please do not use spikes longer than 1/4".

    o   Please do not run backwards, or in the opposite direction (non-legal direction), on a horizontal jump, pole vault or javelin runway.

      EXCHANGE ZONES:

    o   4x200mRelay = 1st Red to Red, 2nd Red to Red, 3rd Gold to Gold

    o   4x100mRelay = All Exchanges-Gold to Gold

    o   4x400mRelay = All exchanges -Blue to Blue

      Denham Springs High School athletic trainers will be available and are ready to assist with any injures that may occur.

2:30 -3:00 pm - Coaches packet pick-up in the hospitality room, located in the "Jacket Room" of the Football Field House.

Weigh in for implements will be from 2:30 - 3:00 next to the visitor side bathrooms.  Field Event areas open for warm-ups at 3:00.

Girls Long Jump (Triple follows) Pit 1 - 1/4-inch spikes only!!!

High Jump- Girls (Boys follow) - 1/4-inch spikes only

Pole Vault - Boys (Girls follow) - 1/4-inch spikes only  ** Must turn pole vault verification forms in for your vaulters to compete**

Relay Markings:
