Here are some guidelines we will follow for this event, along with meet info:

Grade Levels:

We are defining Middle School as 6th, 7th and 8th grade - i.e., athletes listed at Milesplit with graduation years of 2028, 2029 and 2030.  We will not accept athletes below 6th grade into the meet. There is, however, an outstanding Elementary School Dream Mile also hosted each season that does accept athletes in those lower grades.

Competing in the event:
There are no entry submissions with this event. Participation is by invitation only, where invitations are made to the top 16 boys and top 16 girls in our weekly rankings that will be emailed out to the Kentucky CC and Track coaches listserve, but also posted at Milesplit or Athletic.net.

On Sunday May 5, we will extend an invitation to the top 16 ranked performances for MS boys and top 16 ranked performances for MS girls to compete.

** Beginning in early April, we will construct and then provide a ranking of the top boys and girls in the 1600 and mile. We will do our best to continue this on a weekly basis until May 7, when a final ranking will be distributed. The ranking will be distributed via the Kentucky Track & Cross Country Coaches email distribution list, and will be posted at Milesplit.

** Coaches are asked to monitor these weekly rankings if they believe they have any eligible athletes. We would like for the process to work like this. As these rankings come out each week, we ask that coaches confirm whether their athletes would be able to compete in the event if selected - i.e. should the athletes make it into the final top 16 ranking on May 5 and receive an official invitation to compete. Once an athlete is confirmed as able to compete - if accepted, then we will note this in each subsequent ranking. Any athletes who are confirmed as not able to compete will be dropped from the ranking and will not appear in subsequent rankings. Note that if an athlete's status changes from "unable to compete" to "able to compete", then we will need to be informed of this change asap so that the athlete can be reinserted into the rankings.

We will also need shirt sizes for all prospective athletes.

** All performances must come from outdoor meets run after early March, and may come from the 1600m or the 1 mile. I.e., we are following the qualifying window established for the High School Dream Mile. We will continue to accept performances through the evening of Saturday, May 4.

** Although this event will be contested over the 1 mile distance, our weekly rankings will report all performances in terms of a 1600m time (this is due to the fact that there are many fewer 1 mile races than 1600m races). Mile performances will be converted to 1600m performances using the conversion calculator at Milesplit.

** We will construct our ranking from 1600 and mile performances that are posted at the Milesplit or Athletic.net websites.  If you have a result from another public results site, then please contact me with that information. Note that we will only accept results posted at a public results website (e.g. Milesplit, Athletic.net). We do not accept relay splits.

** Performances may come from an athlete who runs up for their HS team, competes for the MS team, runs unattached or competes for a club team.
