Below is the Top 12 Moments/Races of 2012. This past year was quite arguably the greatest year in XC/Track history for the state. Records were set across the board in track and XC. KYtrackXC.com has sorted through some of the moments/races that really set the state on fire in a sense in 2012.
Angel Piccirillo enters her senior season as one of the top distance runners in Pennsylvania, as well as the U.S. Bursting on the scene as a sophomore - Piccirillo won her first of two indoor state mile titles, first of two outdoor 1600 meter titles and first of two Penn Relays COA titles. So far in her senior year, she has added a second state title in AA cross country, and a Northeast Region title and 2nd Foot Locker Finalist qualifier.

The player caught in such bizarre circumstances is Devin Field, a DeSoto (Texas) High athlete who was recently declared ineligible because of residency regulations by Texas' University Interscholastic League, which governs scholastic extracurricular activities in the Lone Star state. Fort Mill senior distance runner Meredith Kilburn shares her experience at New Balance Nationals in New York.
The senior capped her high school indoor career with three gold medals at the New Balance Nationals Indoor championships in New York City. Running in the Emerging Elites division, Moses won the 55-meter hurdles (24.8 seconds) and the 200 (8.02 seconds) and also ran on the Millers' winning 800 relay team. In helping the Millers finish second at the Class 3A state championship meet last month, Moses won the 200 and ran on the winning 800 relay team. She was second in the 55 hurdles, and her 1,600 relay team also finished second. An Honor Roll student, Moses has signed to run for Mississippi. (via baltimoresun.com)

Greg Dohler/The Gazette Dondre Echols of the Potomac High School track team currently holds the fastest time in the nation in 55 hurdles. Dondre Echols crouches low, his electric green and black Nike spikes placed firmly against the starting block. He remembers his heart pounding, but he pushes it out. It's just him.
