I was looking at the number of teams registered for the 1A West races. There are 18 teams registered. (not counting Franklin) According to the advancement rule: 18( 0.25)=4.5 teams advance. Does this mean 5 teams advance or will it remain 4 teams? The rule states whichever is more.

@stands4Christ If it is .4 or down it will round down and if it .5 or more it will round up. If all five runners of the eighteen teams run then 5 teams will advance to the State meet.

@IsenhourCS Keep in mind too, that it's finishing teams. If a team of 5 starts the race, but only 4 runners cross the line--that would not constitute a finishing team.

@adorsey2 it isn't finishing, it's starting. I just confirmed with a regional director that that is the process for determining participating teams again this year. Jason

@jcreasy111 Well that is good news. Was it not based on finishers last year?

@adorsey2 no, regional directors were to count the teams that had five athletes on the start line. Which I think is good. If a team of 5 has one athlete DNF then it could stop a team from going to states.
