Carmel High School Boys Qualify for Nike National Meet

Carmel High School competed this past weekend as the Carmel Distance Alliance in the Nike Cross Nationals Mid-West Regional Meet at LaVerne Gibson Course in Terre Haute, site of the ISHAA State Championship two weeks ago.  With the top two teams receiving automatic bids to the Nike Cross Nationals Meet in Portland Oregon on December 1, 2012 the Greyhounds placed 2nd with 162 points to York of Illinois who had 92.  Placing third with 211 points was nationally ranked St. Xavier of Ohio.  Full team scores may be found here.

Running for Carmel were Robert Browning (33rd in 16:06.2), Benjamin Veatch (58th in 16:21.1), Charles Watson (64th in 16:22.8), Michael George (68th in 16:24.3), Benjamin Anderson (73rd in 16:25.4), Corey Turner (80th in 16:29.3), Daniel Williams (179th in 16:55.9) and Jaedon Wilson (196th in 17:03.8).  The Hounds again used a strong pack to secure a bid to the National Meet as this remarkable season will continue for a few more weeks.  This year's team becomes the first Carmel Boys' team to qualify for the Nike Cross National Meet and only the third Boys' team from Indiana to qualify joining Warren Central and Columbus North.
